Spring 2016 City College graduates will celebrate their new academic degrees amid family and friends at the graduation ceremony May 18 in Hughes Stadium.
Graduating students will begin the commencement ceremony in the South Gym at 5 p.m. They are expected to be appropriately dressed in a black gown and black mortarboard, with the tassel hanging from the right side of the mortarboard, according to instructions on the City College website. As is the custom, as soon as graduating students receive their degree on stage, they move the tassel to the left side of their mortarboard, signifying they are now graduates with an associate’s degree or certificate from City College.
Students who filed the petition to graduate based on the Admissions and Records deadline should have their name in the commencement program. If students only registered to “walk” they will are not guaranteed that their names will be printed in the program, according to the City College website.
City College Public Information Officer Rick Brewer said that 1808 students will graduate with associate degrees.
