Kondos Art Gallery displayed new works of art Oct. 25 for an exhibit called “Finding Form, Making Image: Survivors”.
The exhibit includes mixed-media art, which is includes more than one medium in a piece of art, at the campus art gallery. One of the interesting pieces on display is called “Martyred Mayor”. It is a painting of the former mayor of New Orleans, Ray Nagin, is depicted as Jesus wearing the crown of thorns with a robe and tears going down his face during a CNN television broadcast.
Artist Judith Lowery, who created this piece, is well known for her mixed-media work and use of humor and social commentary. Lowery believes using text and captions will allow the viewer to receive different messages from the piece.
“Finding Form, Making Image: Survivors” will be on display at the Gregory Kondos Art Gallery until Friday, Nov. 19.
