A Californian artist asks students today “What is art? What is environmental justice?”
Milton Bowens’ art exhibit “Welcome to My Global Hood,” displayed on the third floor of the Learning Resource Center this month, answers those two questions through his work.
“I’m impressed with his work,” said Victoria Henderson, the City College Cultural Awareness Center coordinator. “He’s truly an artist; he’s really passionate about what he does.”

Working closely with the Cultural Awareness Center, Bowens opened his 19 piece exhibit last month with the intention of engaging City College students in the arts, the environment and what it means to be part of a global community.
Students will have a chance to speak with Bowens Saturday, Oct. 9, during a Meet the Artists panel on the third floor of the LRC. Doors open at 3 p.m. The art exhibit will continue until Oct. 31 and it’ll run again from Nov. 1 to Nov. 17.
