Spring semester has started and students have hit the ground running, scrambling to make it to classes on time or struggling to get into wait-listed classes. With the spring session almost three weeks in, students are settling down.
Some students aren’t having any problems so far, like Simran Banga, global disease biology major. With this being his first year at City College, he loves the vibe of the campus this particular spring semester.
“I like the classes. The campus environment feels pretty nice, welcoming,” Banga says of his first semester at City College, noting that the week has been going well and he hasn’t had problems getting into classes.
Banga says he hopes to finish his general education after this semester.
“That’s what I’m looking forward to,” Banga says.
For some students, the school grind is all too familiar and redundant, like for sociology major Jay Saefong.

“It’s my sixth semester here, so I’m pretty used to it,” Saefong says.
Saefong also says he didn’t have to deal with waitlists and hopes to be at Sacramento State after the semester ends.
The school routine can be tiring for students like Emilio Perez, psychology major, who says that school can be hectic trying to get books and making time to study. Perez says he doesn’t let school pressure or overwhelm him.
“Keep that fire, that passion alive for the semester,” Perez says, so that he can come back for the fall.
Perez says he uses his school resources, which help him get into the classes he needs to.
“I’m in the EOPS program so I get zero priority,” says Perez of not having to deal with the many headaches that come with being on a waitlist.
Spring semester is full steam ahead, and lots of studying should make the time fly by. But don’t forget the following important deadline. The last day to withdraw from the first eight weeks of class without a “W” passing is Jan. 28, according to the calendar on the school’s website. students can no longer drop classes without getting a “W”, which can have repercussions on student’s financial aid status.
