City College’s cross-town rival Cosumnes River College swept Panthers’ baseball with a 6-2 loss April 16 to cap off a three-game series.
Things got out of hand early for City College when Cosumnes scored in each of the first two innings. The Hawks then blew things open with a four-run fourth inning.
Panthers’ starting pitcher Gabe Araj had control problems throughout his three innings of work, issuing six walks. Taylor Shores came in from the bullpen after Araj threw a leadoff walk in the bottom of the fourth. Shores would give up three runs in the inning.
The Panthers scored a run in the sixth, and then another in the eighth. The Hawks had a confortable lead though and held it to win.
Cosumnes’ Kyle Von Ruden pitched seven innings and got the win. Von Ruden is 8-2. Araj was credited with the loss for City College and is 5-3.
