Susurrus: n. a soft whispering or rustling sound; a murmur.
Susurrus, the literary journal at City College, produces an annual book of exemplary student writing, art, poetry and photography. Founded in 1994, Susurrus has been named the best community college literary journal in the nation twice by Community College Humanities Association.
After being cancelled in the fall 2018 semester due to low enrollment, Susurrus is seeking students to enroll as staff writers as the spring 2019 semester approaches.
Marci Selva, Susurrus literary journal adviser, wrote a compelling note on the Susurrus Facebook page encouraging students to enroll in the City College literary journal:

Course Description: This course provides instruction in techniques and experience in editing and structuring the college literary magazine, Susurrus. Students will select and edit manuscripts in the genres of poetry, short fiction, and creative non-fiction.
**Adviser’s addition to the course description: This is a really fun class! It is your opportunity to help select the pieces — both literary and visual (we accept submissions of original photos and other visual artwork as well!) — that will comprise our beautiful, highly-readable publication. And, if that’s not enough to convince you, a bonus: This course has no tests/exams and no essays to write! The only “homework” is reading the submitted pieces, submitting (very) brief written critiques, and participating actively in discussion and selection of submissions. Bonus #2: You are also able — and encouraged to — submit your own work for consideration. Super-extra-special bonus #3: It looks great on university transfer and other applications. ”.
Students interested in taking the course can contact Selva at [email protected] with any questions.
