Patricia Jones is a staff writer for the Express. This will be her first semester writing for the Express. She loves breaking news stories and anything that grabs readers full attention. Growing up in Sacramento, Patricia didn’t get the privilege to see a lot of journalists that looked like her. This inspired her to go into the field of journalism, the best journalist she could possibly be.
In her ninth grade year in high school, Patricia decided to be a writer for the school newspaper, and ended up succeeding at it. So the chance to come back to college and take courses in the subject means the world to her. Patricia wants to get her associate’s degree in journalism to allow her to write stories on high profile trials. The trial of George Zimmerman, the man who was responsible for Trayvon Martin’s death, was the biggest reason Patricia wanted to get into journalism. The story and the unfortunate events that took place Feb. 26, 2012 always stuck with her. Patricia watched every moment of the trial since the first day. Having the ability to tell anybody exactly what happened in her own words, without them even being there, is when she knew the field was right for her. City College should get ready because Patricia Jones has just arrived.
