City College’s Asian Pacific Islander (API) Program will host the Mid-Autumn Festival in collaboration with City College’s Cultural Engagement Centers Wednesday, Sept. 15, from 1–2 p.m. on Zoom, according to a recent Cityscape email. No registration is required to attend.
The event will celebrate both students coming back to school and the Mid-Autumn Festival, according to the email. The Mid-Autumn Festival is observed in East and Southeast Asian cultures and celebrates the harvest moon, with traditional activities centering on spending time with family, eating mooncakes and watching the moon. At the API Program’s celebration, students can play games together and connect with other API students and staff members.
The event also features two raffles that students can enter to win a $20 Amazon gift card, according to the program’s event details document. The gift cards are provided by the API Program and the Cultural Engagement Centers. One raffle is already closed; however, students may enter the second raffle by simply attending the event. Winners can only win once and must be Los Rios students.
The API Program is also launching a Peer Leadership Program this month, according to the program’s webpage. The leadership program seeks to help students create connections with API peer mentors and cultivate leadership skills through leading a campus club.
The leadership program will meet virtually once a month for two hours from September until December 2021. Students interested in the program must submit an interest form.
