As spring semester continues, City College Learning Resource Center staff have stepped into action by launching a new “Curbside Library”.

Due to district-wide campus closures, which have been in effect for close to a year, lending physical copies of books has not been possible. Curbside lending makes it possible for librarians and library techs to serve students again. Public Services Librarian Antonio Lopez is excited to spread the news of the LRC’s ability to exchange books again.

“We want to provide students with the resources that they need to be successful in college, and right now we want to do that in the safest way possible,” said Lopez. “We want more people to be aware of this and realize how useful it would be for them.”

This new program allows students the ability to reserve books remotely, then pick their orders up behind the LRC. Using OneSearch via the City College website or a portal on Canvas, students can access a variety of tools, digital text, as well as search the database to reserve books available at LRC.

When a reserved book is ready for pickup, a library staff will place all requested books inside of a labeled bag containing instructions on due dates and drop off arrangements. Students will then receive an email to let them know their item is ready for pickup on Tuesday, Wednesday, or Saturday between 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
