from Michael Gutierrez, City College President
Though almost a year has passed, the death of Stephon Clark continues to have a lasting impact on us. Today’s announcement that no charges will be filed in Stephon’s case has been met with confusion, sadness and anger by many on our campuses.
Stephon was a student here at Sacramento City College, so this story hits very close to home for us all. As we seek to understand what led to his death, and the deep social dynamics present in our communities and all across America, it reinforces that the work we are doing to address issues of equity and social justice have never been more important. Our commitment must and will be to expand those efforts and accelerate that work at Sac City and in our community.
