October is National Domestic Violence Awareness Month and in keeping with its mission to host events informative and important events for the student community and the community at large, the City College Cultural Awareness Center will host a workshop on stopping violence.
The event will take place on Oct. 19 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the CAC and will include stories from survivors, information on its impact on children and how to find community resources.
Domestic violence is defined as a “behaviors used by one person in a relationship to control the other [person],” according to domesticviolence.org.
Among the community participants will be the Gender Health Center, La Familia Counseling Center, Manalive Sacramento, My Sister’s House, SETA (Sacramento Employment and Training Agency) Head Start, the Elk Grove chapter of Soroptimists, SupportWorks, and WEAVE.
