After a week’s worth of using an umbrella, the sun finally came out for City College’s baseball game against Sierra College Wolverines March 31.
The Wolverines came into Union Stadium and left victorious by outscoring the Panthers 11-6.
The Panthers got off to a slow start making two errors in the first inning allowing Sierra to go up 1-0.
In the second inning City College executed a hit and run. With runners at first and second moving, City College batter Patrick Armstrong hit a ground ball to short, advancing both runners.
City College’s DaVon Poole would clear the bases with a triple to right field. Poole eventually scored and the Panthers took a 4-1 lead.
Armstrong led off the fourth inning with a triple, but was thrown out at the plate when he attempted to score on a ground ball to first.
The Wolverines scored four runs over the next two innings, taking the lead back from the Panthers.
Both teams hit the ball well. Each finished the game with 13 hits apiece.
Though City College had some base running errors that were costly, taking potential runs off the board, Sierra College left-fielder, Jake Bews hit a three-run homer in the sixth inning putting the Wolverines on top for good, ending with 11-6.
This is the fourth and final game for City College against the Wolverines this season.
