Every global community celebrates their own holiday. For Muslim communities, this celebration is known as Eid. Eid is originally an Arabic term meaning “festival” or “fest”. Muslims celebrate two Eids every year: Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid ul Adha. Eid-u-Fitr is the celebration that signifies the completion of the month of Ramadan. After the Holy month of Ramadan is over, Muslims gather to celebrate the day of Eid. Muslims wear traditional and cultural clothing and gather in Mosques and Islamic centers to perform the Eid prayer. The photos capture the Imam Abu Hanifa Islamic Center in Sacramento where Muslims gathered for Eid-ul-Fitr prayer today. Written by Mohabat Shams.
