Extended Opportunity Program and Services students had the opportunity to stop by the campus City Cafe on Jan. 10 to receive free college supplies and wearable City College swag.
Each semester, EOPS passes out free supplies at City College, catered to the needs of students enrolled in the program. Their goal is to reach students through educational resources.
For this semester’s two-day distribution students received a free tote bag filled with a variety of college supplies like pens, pencils, notebooks and binders to help ease the cost of purchasing them for themselves.
Tonya Foley, grant coordination clerk, believed that the free supply bundle will help students get through the semester, along with EOPS hoodies and scarves that will keep them warm during the cold months. During the fall 2023 semester, they passed out free backpacks to students just starting out the year, according to Foley.
Cody Senegal, student EOPS assistant, said she “was excited to see all the smiles as the EOPS students came in to get their EOPS swag.” Senegal feels the students like to get stuff that represents the program they are a part of.
Senegal loves working with students at EOPS because to her, it feels like a home away from home. “They are family oriented, and the program has a lot of resources available for students so that they can feel better about themselves,” Senegal said.
