City College men’s basketball team was blown out 91-62 against cross-town rival Cosumnes River College Jan. 13. It was the team’s third consecutive Big 8 Conference loss this season.
The Panthers attacked in the beginning and started the game on a 10-2 run. However, once the Hawks got into a rhythm, they began firing on all cylinders and went into halftime with a 42-22 lead.
According to Panthers’ head coach Andrew Jones, the team wasn’t as physical as it needed to be and gave up the game early. City College scored more rebounds the game 47-34 and committed 21 turnovers.
The Panthers struggled to make their shots. Freshman forward Brandon Rowden was the only Panther to score double-digits and had 19 points in the game.
“That was the biggest bright spot today that [Rowden] played like I think he can,” said Jones. “If he can do that on a regular basis, that would help us a lot.”
