Patty Blomberg, a longtime City College psychology professor who was best known as the woman who brought the Condom Connection cart to campus, died Saturday, Sept. 17. She was 70.
Blomberg was often seen driving the cart around campus with her students, delivering free condoms. She and six other students collaborated with Capital City AIDS Fund in 2015 to create the cart. She secured the donation of a golf cart and used it to distribute condoms and safe sex messages to students throughout the main campus each Tuesday and Thursday.
“Patty was always incredibly caring for our students,” said Frank Malaret, her longtime dean who is currently interim dean of the Davis Center. “She had an incredible spirit.”
