The City College wrestling team scored 158 points to win its third California Community College Athletic Association State Championship Dec. 12, upsetting No. 1 ranked Fresno City College (137 points) and No. 2 Ranked Cerritos College (116).
The No. 3 ranked Panthers had 11 wrestlers, including two top-ranked athletes, Dylan Forzani (165 pounds) and Kaleio Romero (157), going into the state tournament. Forzani was the only City College wrestler to place first in individuals after he defeated teammate Derek Lee Loy, 22-4. Trevor Wright came in second place in the 174-pound weight class after losing 16-6 to Fresno City College’s Mo Naser.
City College won the 2013 CCCAA State Championship, making this its second title in three years.
