Two men have been identified as “persons of interest” in the Sept. 3 City College shooting, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
Tevita Kaihea, 19, and Charlie Hola, 19, have been confirmed by investigators as potentially being involved in the on-campus shooting that killed student Roman P. Gonzalez, 25, on East Road near the softball field.
Prior to the shooting, two groups of two individuals got into a verbal altercation, which lead to a fight between Gonzalez and Hola. A third man, Rico Ridgeway, 24, stepped in and stabbed Hola, according to authorities. The fourth man pulled a gun out of his backpack and fired shots.
Police have not identified the shooter, only describing him as a Pacific Islander wearing a white t-shirt and tan cargo shorts.
Kaihea and Hola are being held in connection with the armed robbery of a Church’s Chicken restaurant on Florin Road in south Sacramento at 2:39 p.m., less than two hours before to the shooting.
Kaihea is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail on suspicion of robbery and being a felon in possession of a firearm during the Church’s Chicken Robbery. He will return to court Nov. 19, the same day as Hola’s next appearance.
