Brown Issues is hosting The Boys and Men of Color Resources Fair Nov. 13-14 at the City College Student Center.
A student organization that addresses issues hindering the growth of Chicano/Latino people, Brown Issues is bringing together campus and community resources for the two-day event. The fair will target 200-300 high school students expected to attend and educate them about the opportunities available to them upon graduation.
Brown Issues focus is in addressing the influence of gang violence, drugs in the community, poverty, lack of education and other barriers, said Brown Issues spokesperson Ricardo Lemus.
“We target students who are mislabeled as ‘troubled youth’ or ‘underachievers,’” said Lemus, “and encourage them to seek higher education.”
The fair will highlight City College resources such as EOPS, MESA, and RISE, while featuring live performances, speakers, music and break dancing as part of Brown Issues’ community outreach strategy.
