It’s not uncommon for average college students to “trim the fat” off their budgets as soon as a new school semester begins.
Little things like a night out or regularly getting a good haircut or manicure starts to fall to the wayside, as other things like textbooks and parking passes start to take their place.
But if you can afford a can of traditional spaghetti sauce, which only costs $1.02 at Target, you can treat yourself to a fresh manicure or haircut from the cosmetology students at City College.
The cosmetology school at City College has put together a canned food drive to benefit the Sacramento Food Bank called Food for Beauty. For the mere donation of a canned good, you can receive a complimentary haircut or manicure. All of the services provided are performed by a cosmetology student who is under the supervision of an instructor.
Food for Beauty will be held Oct. 1-Oct. 3 from 7:45 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Cosmetology Building on campus. The building is located at the corner of 12th Avenue and Freeport Boulevard.
To receive your complimentary manicure or haircut, you must schedule an appointment. To schedule a haircut, call (916) 558-2595. To schedule a manicure, call (916) 650-2958.
Services cannot be performed on children under the age of 6.
