Enjoying the last weeks of school? On May 9 in the quad, City College observed People’s Day for another successful year from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.
The event had a variety of vendors selling clothes to serving food. Also there was entertainment on the stage from rapping to dancing and even singing.
People’s Day also included items to get mothers something for Mother’s Day. Cookie Lee’s jewelry booth had deals of buy one get one half off on jewelry for people to buy for their mothers.
The event started off with a pancake eating contest while students walked around and looked at the items that the vendors had to offer.
“It’s nice to see the community and the vendors showing off their art work and homemade creations,” said freshman Labraeah Walker.
Students seemed to enjoy the different types of food that was offered. The food provided ranged from Olde Tyme Kettle Corn to Chinese food.
“I wish the food wasn’t so expensive,” Walker said.
There was also an Italian ice vendor selling cups for $3 and giving away free spoon samples.
The quad stage hosted rap performances, a dance from the dance club and a Chinese dance with the dragons.
“It makes me happy to see how talented people are,” Walker said.
Wells Fargo and U.S. Bank were on site to convince students to sign up of bank accounts.
At 5 p.m. the Student Leadership and Development began to barbeque and give away free hot dogs to the students during the talent show.
The students really had a chance to relax before the stressful time of taking finals, as they were able to eat, shop, and enjoy a variety of entertainment, all at City College.
