City College women’s soccer team was looking to win its second game in a row but the American River College Beavers had other ideas as the Panthers were blown out, 5-0, Sept. 24 at Hughes Stadium.

ARC controlled the ball and the tempo from the start of the match. It paid off for the Beavers early, as they scored in the 10th minute of the game, taking an early 1-0 lead. In the 15th minute, the Beavers had a chance to score another goal off of a corner-kick, but Panthers goalkeeper Karlie Walkup made the save.

The Beavers continued to push the pace, scoring a total of three goals in the first 25 minutes of the game. Coming into the game, City College Head Coach Jang-Ha Oh said he more from his team.

“I expected us to play really well today because of we played [Cuesta College] a little over 10 days ago, and we won that game,” said Oh. “They didn’t show up today.”

In the second half, the Panthers started off strong, which was part of Oh’s halftime adjustments. The Panthers looked to attack early, but couldn’t get any offense rolling.
