Former City College student Sean Thompson was arrested Wednesday night after allegedly throwing a cream pie in the face of Sacramento Mayor Kevin Johnson at a farm-to-fork benefit dinner.
The event at Sacramento Charter High School was disrupted by Thompson, 32, when he threw the pie in Johnson’s face, and punches were thrown, according to multiple witnesses.
Thompson was treated at a local hospital before he was arrested on a felony charge of assaulting a public official and misdemeanor charge of battery on school property, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department’s website. In his mug, stitches on Thompson’s face are visible.
Thompson is a former student and 2011-2012 Associated Student Body Senator. During his time at City College, Thompson was involved in the Occupy Sacramento movement and appeared in a video interview done by the Express newspaper. Johnson also appears in the video.
Thompson remains at the Sacramento County Jail with bail set at $100,000.
