
Palestinian-American poet and hip-hop artist Remi Kanazi will be speaking at City College Feb. 24 in the Cultural Awareness Center.
Kanazi’s website states he is based out of New York. He is the author of the recently published collection of poems called “Before the Next Bomb Drops: Rising Up from Brooklyn to Palestine.” He also wrote the 2011 work “Poetic Injustice: Writings on Resistance and Palestine”.
Known for his political commentary, Kanazi has appeared on news outlets such as Salon, BBC Radio and the New York Times. According to Kanazi’s official website, he “has taught poetry workshops from Oklahoma to the West Bank, given talks from New York City to London, and has performed at hundreds of venues, from New Orleans to Amman.”
The event is being organized by the Cultural Awareness Center. Kanazi will speak twice: at 1:30-2:45 p.m. and at 3-4:15 p.m.
