City College recently announced its designation as a Hispanic Serving Institution Sept. 15, a decision that affects at least 29 percent of students on campus who claim Hispanic/Latino background.

The Hispanic Association of Colleges and Universities, alongside the Department of Education, have decided to recognize colleges as HSI that have a high percentage of Hispanic enrollment, as well as other requirements, to allow them access to large grants.
