The Los Rios Community College District recently announced its new chancellor, Brian King, who was selected by the district’s Board of Trustees.
According to Interim Chancellor Jon Sharpe, King, who will begin his duties as chancellor on Feb. 1, 2013, has served as president and superintendent of Cabrillo College since 2004 and brings more than 20 years of community college teaching and administrative experience to his new position.
“At Cabrillo he is credited with guiding the implementation of highly successful student success measures, leading the college through two successful local bond campaigns, and raising more than $20 million in private donations through the college foundation,” said Sharpe.

In a press release sent out to announce the new chancellor, Los Rios Board President Ruth Scribner mentioned her search for a person who has “exceptional leadership skills and board community college experience.”
King will head Los Rios’s four-college district: American River, Cosumnes River, Folsom, and City colleges.
