According to The Sacramento Bee, the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has identified the victim of Thursday’s shooting at City College as 25-year-old Roman P. Gonzalez.
The shooting took place at approximately 3:59 p.m., Sept. 3, and left Gonzalez dead and two other victims injured. A preliminary investigation by the Sacramento Police Department revealed that the shooting followed an altercation between two groups of subjects that further escalated when a knife and gun were produced by the involved parties.
Police have said it appears that this was an isolated incident, but that “gang activity is not being ruled out” in the investigation.
The Sacramento Police Department is still searching for the suspect, described as a Pacific Islander male wearing a white shirt and beige cargo shorts. He was last seen fleeing from the scene.
One of the three victims was taken to an area hospital were he is expected to survive. The other victim who was struck, who has been identified as 24-year-old Rico Ridgeway, was treated on scene, and later booked on an unrelated violation-of-parole warrant.
