
City College baseball Panthers rumbled with the Sierra College Wolverines, March 12 at Union Stadium for their first conference game of the season. The Panthers lost their first conference game 2-1.
The game promised a true-nail biter and indeed it was as the first three innings both teams were scoreless.
During the fourth inning, Sierra College managed to score one run, leaving City College concerned.
Between the fifth and six innings, the Panthers gained some momentum, striking out the Wolverine batters within ten minutes.
Tension filled the air when City College continually caught all the swift moves that Sierra College was batting.
As seventh inning came up, the Wolverines scored another run and things did not look very good for the Panthers.
Near the end of the game, the Panthers finally scored a home run; however, it was one inning too late, as the final score flashed on the Union Stadium scoreboard, 2-1.
For its next event, City College baseball team will travel out of town to play against San Joaquin Delta College on March 15.
