Welcome Day returns to City College, filled with live musical entertainment and food on Sept. 8 at both noon and 5 p.m. in the main campus quad.
Coordinated and hosted by the Student Leadership and Development program, Welcome Day will offer informational tables on clubs, programs and services for new and returning students, according to Kimberlee Beyrer, coordinator of Student Leadership and Development.
“Welcome Day provides an opportunity for all to celebrate the beginning of a new year,” Beyrer said. “It is also a chance for students to learn about the many opportunities and resources available on campus.”

Beyrer said the planning process for the event started spring last year.
Latrice Cole, student personnel assistant of Student Leadership and Development, said they collaborated and worked with other departments on campus, such as the Student Senate, Clubs and Events Board and also co-coordinated with Beyrer on the set-up, staffing and advertising of the event.
“This event promotes engagement with the diverse ethnic and racial groups that makes-up our student population here at SCC,” Cole said. “This event also supports new student transitions from high school to college student by fostering engagement through campus clubs and leadership.”
The event will include live entertainment and barbecue from noon to 1 p.m. and again from 5-6 p.m.
