The City College cosmetology department spent the first half of the semester giving back to the community by allowing students to bring in canned food items through March 9, and in return, receive a complimentary haircut or manicure.
All the proceeds were donated to the Sacramento Food Bank and the services were provided by students, under an instructor’s supervision.

The outcome of the event was a success and the cosmetology department students say they were happy to give back to those who are less fortunate.
“I enjoy the can food drive because it gives back to the community and brings in more clientele,” said cosmetology student Desiree Roberts.
