City College students use the break in a variety of ways

Labor Day has come and gone, and while the holiday was once observed in quiet recognition of the struggles of the labor movement, most City College students are just thankful for a three-day weekend.
The holiday that has become synonymous with family trips and outdoor barbecues was enjoyed to the fullest by City College students.
To that end, City College student Harpreet Kaur made the 15-hour drive up to Surrey, Canada for he cousin’s birthday. She was there for the entirety of the weekend.

Some students were not able to enjoy the luxury of uninterrupted vacation. Stephanie Carpenter had soccer practice every day over break but believes that the team looks good this season.
Some students were more inclined to spend their short break locally. David Davis, who graduated from City College some time ago and is back to take classes recreationally, went to Pioneer Days in Old Sacramento to take photographs for a class.
Sam Hultberg, a Sign Interpretation major, also stayed close.
Said Hultberg “I went to Country in the Park at Gibson Ranch,” which is a country music concert held at a venue in Elverta, CA.
Says Devin Parsad, a Computer Engineering major, “If school’s started, it’s already time for a break.”
