Somehow last night I ended up at the Fall Out Boy, Believers Never Die concert at the memorial auditorium.
Ok, maybe it wasn’t an accident, Fall Out Boy actually happens to be one of my guilty pleasures. Despite they’re young fan base, they actually make some pretty good music and Patrick Stump’s vocals are amazing, even live.
Touring with Fall Out Boy was Hey Monday (a band with a girl singer that sounds dead on Paramore), Metro Station, All Time Low, and Cobra Starship.
Hey Monday wasn’t too bad, despite them sounding like Paramore so much, but they put on an energetic performance. Cassadee Pope, the lead singers vocals were good and they’re energy was good. It’s hard to tell that this is they’re first big tour.
Next up was Metro Station. not much to say about them. The lead singer looked like Steven Tyler and is Miley Cyrus’ older brother. They’re sound was too poppy for my tastes.
All Time Low was pretty good, I’ve never really listened to them before, but they had good energy, but still opening act status.
Cobra Starship was the best out of the openers, they had a nice stage set up with neon lights and banners. It’s hard not to dance to they’re music, and it’s so much better live. Lead singer Gabe Saporta was all over the stage from beggining to end, never letting up, and the fact that they have a girl playing keytar makes them even better.

Fall Out Boy opened with a video showing clips of diffrent wall street ceo’s with a clip from they’re song “Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes,” then walked out dressed up as wall street ceo’s with black eyes and bruised faces, and had drummers with snares dressed up as riot police. Lead singer Patrick Stump was sporting a short blonde wig. They jumped right into the song “Disloyal Order Of Water Buffaloes,” and ripped through alot of past hits and songs from the new album “Folie A Deux.”
The higlight of they’re set was when they performed “What A Catch, Donnie,” Patrick Stumps vocals were dead on with the gospel sounding number. Every one in the packed auditorium were singing the lyrics “I got troubled thoughts, and the self-esteem to match, what a catch.” It would have been the perfect song to end with, but they went with they’re usual closer, “Saturday,” from they’re first big album “Take this to your grave.”
Another highlight was when they showed a video showing alot of current events going on in the world and challenged everyone to make change in the world.
It seemed to me they’re energy wasn’t as big as it was last time I saw them, no pyro technics, no crazy Pete Wentz jumping, running and doing 360’s on stage, but the music sounded good, and I guess thats all you can ask for. All in all it was a decent show, but better if you show up about two hours late to see just Cobra Starship.
O, and the teenie bopper kids were pretty damn annoying.
