The College Strategic Planning Committee hosted its first college wide forum to review and evaluate City College’s mission, vision, values, and goals Monday, Sept. 1.
“Strategic planning is that very high level, 10,000-foot view, broad kind of planning,” said Marybeth Buechner, the dean of the Office of Planning, Research and Institutional Effectiveness.
Buechner said the CSPC had presented a set of nine goals for departments and divisions to use as planning guidelines. The committee decided to streamline the nine goals into three broad goals because of the complaints of many departments that viewed the original guidelines as being too confusing.
“There were fewer goals and it was easier for people to think about what our goals were, but with more strategies being listed, people had more opportunities to see where their particular department fit in,” said Buechner.
