The new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 multiplayer beta launch has gamers at Sacramento City College buzzing with excitement. Featuring new movement mechanics called ‘omni-movement,’ Call of Duty 6 provides a unique experience for enthusiasts of the game series.
The smooth game performance creates a realistic environment in which players can fully immerse themselves in the gameplay. However, the omni-movement mechanic offers players a distinct new playstyle. Allowing players to sprint and dive in every direction, players have perfected a movement type utilizing this feature called “bunny hopping.”
I have found this omni-movement to be revolutionary, changing the entire direction of Call of Duty in various ways. While many others may not share this same opinion, I find this multiplayer launch to be the most fun of every game I have tried in the franchise. Diving in any direction desired while shooting provides a fun twist to allow more variety within trick shots.
Students around City College have had positive reviews of the game. “It felt nostalgic,” Meisum Naveed, a 3rd-year student majoring in statistics, said. “It felt like I was back in middle school playing Call of Duty with my friends for an endless amount of time.”
As Call of Duty 6 is still in beta, the developers are actively working on improving gameplay and creating new game modes, including the campaign and zombies. City College student Tristan Alexander, reports that he wants to bring back “Sticks and Stones” in the full release, which refers to the 6-player free for all mode.
The game modes available to play during beta were multiplayer missions known as “Kill Order, Team Deathmatch, Domination, Hardpoint, Face Off Team Deathmatch and Face Off Kill Confirmed.” Of each of these game modes, I found “Domination” to be the most enjoyable as it incorporated all of my favorite elements from each category into one.
As much fun as some members of the student body have had with the new Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 beta, there is always room for improvement. City College student Wyatt Metzger had this to say on what needs improvement for the full release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6: “I definitely think spawns … any game nowadays, I feel like they don’t do the spawns right.”
Call of Duty 6 could definitely be described as addicting, as many students, including me, have spent countless hours grinding the maximum level of the beta in one day. One of the most enjoyable new features added by the developers is the ability to grab others and use them as body shields for protection.
This feature has generated a massive amount of positive publicity, as players have been utilizing it primarily for satire. Overall, the game’s performance, features, and general gameplay have been extraordinarily exciting to many City College students. I eagerly await the official release date of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6, set for October 25, 2024.
