City College will have a help desk Jan. 28 to inform students of the different health coverage options available to them.
Coordinated by the Student Associated Council in partnership with Covered California and Medi-Cal, California’s Medicaid welfare program, a help desk will be in the cafeteria today where students can go to ask questions about coverage including Planned Parenthood, health care plans, and options for signing up.
The table will be showcasing several different options to enroll in Covered California including applying in person by meeting with enrollment counselors, applying online at http://www.coveredca.com/, and applying by mail by going to http://www.coveredca.com/, downloading an application and sending it in.
When applying students will need to have the following documents:
- Social security numbers or information for legal immigrants
- Proof of income (W-2, 1040, or paystub)
- Most recent income tax filing
- (if applies) Immigration information (including immigration number)
- (if applies) Information on membership of a federally-recognized tribe.
