March has arrived and with it the celebration and commemoration of Women’s History. March 8 is International Women’s Day and City College presented a documentary called “Pray the Devil Back to Hell” in the Cultural Awareness Center.

The documentary has won numerous awards at film festivals around the world including “Best Documentary” at the Tribeca Film Festival.

The film chronicles a group of visionary women in Liberia who protest for peace in their country while civil war against a corrupt regime claims the lives of thousands of Liberians. The documentary honors the memory of those women who were instrumental in bringing peace to their country.

“Women play a crucial role in every society to bring about change in the world,” Bahhur says.

The film was presented at the Cultural Awareness Center on Tuesday, March 8, with screenings at 10:30 a.m., noon, 2:30 p.m., and 4 p.m. The event, presented by the International Studies Program, the Cultural Awareness Center and the Staff Resource Center, was free and open to the public.
