On the first Saturday of every month, the Sacramento Zoo holds “Where the Wild Kids Are,” where local businesses, non-profits and vendors can hold booths and display their goods. There is also live music and different projects for the kids to do around the zoo.

In recent years, Sacramento has become more and more bike friendly. You can’t go anywhere without someone whizzing past you on his or her bike. A couple months ago, we had Bike Fest and now….it’s Bike Month. That’s right, the entire month of May is dedicated to bicycles. Whether you like it or not, it takes over downtown (more specifically, Cesar Chavez Park) every Friday night throughout the summer. This year, they are trying something a little new: there will be a DJ featured at every Concert in the Park, since Sacramento has it’s fair share of them.

The Sacramento Electronic Music Festival is celebrating its 3rd year, and a new venue. Starting at Townhouse Lounge, the crowd has gotten larger, requiring the event to be moved to Harlows/Momo’s. There will be local acts like Dusty Brown, DOOMbird, World Hood and DJ Whores.

The Kondos Art Gallery, which normally exhibits artwork that is exclusively completed by faculty, is holding a show this month that includes students. This show is being held at the Crocker Art Museum and is funded by the Los Rios Fund for the Fine and Performing Arts.
