The sun beat down on City College’s softball team March 31 during the doubleheader against the Sierra College Wolverines. The Panthers ended up winning one and losing one.
After a disappointing defeat by the Wolverines 5-2 in the first game, the women recouped and headed into the second game with a steely determination. The second game started off with intensity as the Panthers defended fiercely against the Wolverines. City College sophomore Kendall Sorenson went up to bat and made it easily to first base. A light tap from her teammate Lauren Liming sent Sorenson home.
Before the Panthers knew it, the second game ended with a score of 11-2, giving City College the victory.

The Panthers hit their stride in the second game. City College’s Amber Roszkos hit a fly ball and sent three of her teammates home. Following Roszkos was Chelsea Dunnington who got a base hit and sent two more of her teammates home.
“We’re in the right direction and doing what we need to do to win again,” said Coach Robert Maglione.
