Retired City College art professor Laureen Landau died Aug. 31 at the age of 69.
Landau taught at City College from 1970 to 1997, instructing in art history and composition. She was also an accomplished artist and had exhibitions as far as Japan and Switzerland.
Landau, a Sacramento native, drew on her hometown for inspiration for many of her works. Her work has hung on the walls of many noted Sacramento galleries including the Crocker Art Museum, Solomon Dubnick Gallery and the Center for Contemporary Art, Sacramento.
“Professor Landau’s work honored both the college and her department,” Dean of the Humanities and Fine Arts Division Chris Iwata says. “Her art serves as an example for many of our students.”
