Tattooing is more than just a trend

Kid Rock, Drew Barrymore, Jason Williams, Heidi Klum, Mike Tyson and Janet Jackson are all on different ends of the celebrity spectrum, but all have one thing in common: They all sport tattoos.

Many would say that this is nothing more than a cheap trend that, like ink, will eventually fade with time, but they couldn’t be more than wrong. Tattooing is more than just a trend. It’s a form of self-expression that has been around for millennia and is here to stay.

Even though the opinion of the majority has changed, there are still going to be critics of body art who believe tattoos are cheap and trashy. Tattoos are anything but this. Body art allows individuals to express themselves, and convey meaning that is significant to them. It can also add to one’s beauty, and make them unique.

Whether it is a symbol portraying one’s religious faith, a portrait of a deceased family member or a quote that is meaningful to one’s life and past experiences, tattoos are a physical representation of meaningful things and can be worn proudly on one’s body.
