With the fall semester coming to a close, many of City Colleges’ athletic teams are either winding down or heading into the postseason. Following is a guide to how the school’s teams performed this season.
Men’s basketball
The men’s basketball team currently holds a 6-5 record, and continues its season with a home game Dec. 9 against William Jessup University at 7:30 p.m. For the team’s complete schedule, click here.
Women’s basketball
The women’s basketball team is currently 4-5, going into the Merritt Tournament held by Merritt College beginning Dec. 9. For the team’s complete schedule, click here.
Football
The football team finished the regular season above the .500 mark with a 6-5 record, earning them a trip to the Silicon Valley Bowl Game.The Panthers fell to Foothill College in the Silicon Valley Bowl Game Nov. 20 by a final score of 28-16.
Golf
The Panthers golf team had another strong season. They finished with an overall record of 116-3, and undefeated in conference play with a Big-8 record of 84-0.The golf team also won the Big-8 Conference Championship, but fell short of repeating as state champions and finished third place in the California State Championship. Sophomore Kayla Riede led the Panthers, earning a California State Individual Co-Champion title and All-State selection.

Soccer
The Panthers soccer team struggled this year, finishing the regular with a 2-17-2 record, while going winless in Big-8 Conference play.
Volleyball
The volleyball team finished second in the Big-8 Conference behind Santa Rosa Junior College with a regular season record of 21-8, earning a trip to the postseason. There, the team made it to the second round of the Nor-Cal Regionals Tournament before getting knocked out by San Joaquin Delta College Nov. 27.
Water Polo
The water polo team finished the regular season with a final record of 1-13, falling short of postseason play.
Wrestling
The Panthers wrestling team finished the regular season with a 10-2 overall record and a 3-1 record in Big-8 Conference play. They finished the season ranked fourth in the California State Rankings. The team travels to the State Championships at Victor Valley College Dec. 10.
