Retired Army Colonel and Diplomat Ann Wright will be speaking out against sexual harassment in the military and her activism in the Gaza Strip on Oct. 9 at the Cultural Awareness Center.
According to www.voicesofconscience.com, Wright was one of three State Department officials who publicly resigned from their post in protest against the 2003 invasion in Iraq. Wright, as well as a dozen others, were government insiders who leaked documents, spoke out, or refused to deploy in “protest of government actions that they felt were illegal.”
Wright is now on a speaking tour, and will make stops at several colleges in Northern California, including UC Berkeley and UC Davis.
Wright will give a lecture on the crimes committed against Palestinians fighting to end the blockade in the Gaza Strip, as well as experiences from women who have been sexually harassed while serving in the military.
Everyone is welcome to hear Wright’s lecture from noon to 1:20 p.m.
