Los Rios Student Trustee Cameron Weaver will retain his position after American River College Student Senate voted not to recall in its meeting last week and Folsom Lake College’s Student Senate chose to abstain in its Oct. 20 meeting.

For Weaver to be recalled from his position three of the four Los Rios Colleges — Sacramento City, American River, Cosumnes River and Folsom Lake — had to approve the action.

Weaver came under fire recently for the comments he made in an interview with arcurrent.com. In the interview, he was quoted as being skeptical of the amount of Jewish people killed during the Holocaust.

Now that the vote for recall is behind him, Weaver said he would like to focus on the reason he became the Student Trustee.

“Now I have an opportunity to focus on what I’ve been saying at board meetings these past few weeks,” said Weaver. “I want to bring an amplified voice to all of the students in the district.”

Although Weaver retained his position as Student Trustee, City College’s Student Senate decided to continue on with its proposed vote. The result was split 5-5 with one abstained vote.
