The Express

Express feels the love

In 2011, local jam band Zuhg released it’s third album, “For the Love.”

From the moment I put it on, I couldn’t help but dance around. The funk music is mellow but Bot’s saxophone brings in a jazz element, and the rock’n’roll and reggae vibes get the body moving. The drums are subtle and to the point, and Jes Naomi’s vocals fit perfectly with Bryan Nichols and JR Halliday’s soft voices.

With lyrics like “Feel goosebumps on my cold, naked body; take my clothes off, smelled like they were rotting,” the first track on the album, “New Shoes” (Hippy Feet), introduces the audience to the members’ hippie lifestyle. The following 11 songs are odes to being and loving oneself.
