Luna Vazquez, Writer
Luna Vazquez is a staff writer for the Express. This is her first semester writing for the Express. She indulges in topics regarding ethnic history, with a highlight on narratives that may have been erased. She prides herself on honoring the cultural heritage of others and diving into the ethics that have shaped their communities. The importance of current changes similarly drives Luna to be a voice and advocate in bettering the lives of others. She values impactful movements, the power of unity, and believes communication is the means to bring our ideas to fruition.
Being the youngest of five, Luna has garnered the experience of being an observer. Through watching the changes in those older than her, she learned how to look inward and become curious about the patterns of personality. This shaped into a fondness for the art of literature and diving into the vulnerability of writing. Luna believes that through the written word, we can perceive intangible ideas from one person as it transpires into a physical form for another. She has always advocated for the stories of others with facts, history, and passion. This ultimately shaped her love for journalism, the epitome of communication.
Additionally, Luna is a Sacramento City College writing tutor and barista at a local cafe. She is currently finishing her AA-T this semester and plans to transfer to Sacramento State to pursue her bachelor’s degree in journalism.
