Tamera Coston, Features Editor/ Writer
Tamera Coston is the features editor for the Express. This is her second semester with the Express. She is drawn to interweaving her interest in the environment and microhistories into her writing, which she plans to do while covering arts, media and culture.
Tamera’s love for writing comes from her reflective posture toward life. She credits her hours in childhood spent thinking and playing pretend in Southeastern Michigan’s hemiboreal woods, for cultivating the space in her mind for contemplation and nature as a language. Moving to Sacramento with her family as a teenager, it was Francesca Lia Block and Joan Didion’s California that inspired her to pursue writing as a career. No matter what she’s writing, she hopes her words can also create space for expanding perspectives.
Tamera plans to transfer to Sacramento State to pursue her bachelor’s degree in journalism.
