After a bitter ending to the 2018 season, the City College baseball team is looking to rebound after losing in the California State Championship game to San Joaquin Delta College. City College had a chance to write the wrong from last season against the Mustangs but came up short.

However, the Panthers were able to rebound by defeating Modesto College March 26 in game one of a three-game series.

City College Head Coach Derek Sullivan said that he looks to take advantage of having lots of young freshman talent and returning sophomore talent.

“We have a good team,” said Sullivan on the team’s potential. “We have a lot of young guys, but (also) some good key sophomore returners that can be consistent every day in the lineup.”

At the time of this podcast recording, the Panthers were in first place in the Big 8 Conference. After being swept in a three-game series by reigning state champions San Joaquin Delta, City College dropped to fourth place at 18–8 overall and 8–5 in the Big 8.

“If they’re able to find some level of consistency, I think we can be a really good team this year and not have to wait until next year,” Sullivan said.
