Did you know that if you are struggling to meet basic needs or need a helping hand with a class, Sacramento City College may be able to help? A vast amount of resources that extend beyond the books exist for City College students.
Is life not going as expected? If so, resources are available to students with little to no requirements or qualifications on getting through school. Panther Cares Center provides resolutions that allow students to obtain basic needs and connect with on and off-campus resources. The Panther Cares Center also offers housing support and assistance. The Emergency Hotel program and additional support offers security for long-term housing with students having a limited one-time emergency hotel stay per academic school year.
As we all know, costs are on the rise across the board. According to the California Association of Food Banks, food insecurity is a problem that 1 in 5 Californians face. “The Market” provides essential food and necessities, including hygiene and wellness products. To qualify, a student must be enrolled in at least three units or more in the current semester and SCC must be the home campus. The Market grants 10 credits per week to obtain items, one visit is allowed per household each week, and bringing a reusable bag is encouraged.
For coursework assistance, laptop loans are available at the Library Circulation Desk (located on the second floor of the Joan Didion Learning Resource Center) for semester-long or short-term loans. Requests are made online and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis.
SCC’s Textbook Voucher Program allows students to request additional financial assistance to purchase textbooks required for the semester. Textbook vouchers are provided after financial aid and Extended Opportunity Programs and Services (EOPS). Eligible students receive up to $150 in aid. Textbook vouchers can only be used at the SCC Bookstore for required textbooks.
An abundance of Student Health and Wellness resources are also available. On-campus appointments or walk-ins are accepted for health and illness assessments, first aid for minor injuries or illnesses, over-the-counter medications, Narcan and Fentanyl testing strips, STI and pregnancy testing, emergency contraception, sexual health concerns and education, and many more resources are available. You can check them out here.
Do you need to refresh your appearance? When you look and feel good about yourself, you perform better!
SCC’s Dental Clinic offers services that are performed by students for them to gain hands-on experience. The services fees are waived for students, faculty and staff. Please note that appointments at the SCC Dental Clinic are longer than those at a traditional dentist office. If you visit the dental clinic, you are still encouraged to visit your personal dentist. Services include dental cleanings, X-rays and occlusal sealants.
The Cosmetology Department accepts appointments for cosmetology services. Their services include hair needs such as haircuts, blow outs, braids, chemical texturizing and coloring. Waxing, nail services and pedicure services are also available.

One-on-one, small group, and weekly large group sessions, workshops and study skills sheets are available. The Tutoring and Learning Center uses the Penji app to schedule appointments.
The Business and Computer Information Science labs are available for students enrolled in at least one Business or CIS class. The two labs offer course materials, tutoring for CIS students, computers, internet access, WiFi and printing.
