City College faced off against Reedley College, located south of Fresno, on Saturday, Nov. 12 for the final game of their 2022 football season, ending the game with a loss to wrap up a disappointing season.

The Panthers entered their final game with a record of 3-6, looking to end their four game losing streak, while Reedley entered with a 4-5 record.

The first quarter was fairly quiet until the final minute where Reedley’s quarterback, Joshua Magana (#1), threw a 39-yard touchdown pass to receiver Antwan Ficklen (#0) to put the Reedley College Tigers up 7-0 at the end of the first quarter.

The Tigers extended their lead in the second quarter as Magana (#1) threw another touchdown pass for 14 yards to receiver Shemar Kirk (#3), making  the score 13-0 with less than 9 minutes left in the first half. The Panther’s were able to cut the lead with a 1-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Jason Lindahl (#15). The Tigers lead the Panthers 13-7 at the half.

In the third quarter, Reedley extended their lead with a second receiving touchdown by Shemar Kirk (#3) to put the Tiger’s back up 13. This second half was a good defensive showing as neither team scored anything for nearly the rest of the half, keeping the score at 20-7.

In the fourth quarter the Panther’s were able to get a late score from a one-yard rushing touchdown from quarterback Ben Partee (#13).

However, the Tiger’s held on to their score and won the game 20-14, ending their season with five wins and five losses. The Panthers continued to fight but couldn’t complete the comeback finishing their season 3-7, going 0-5 in their conference games.
