There’s so much happening at City College, the Express wanted to offer a place for students and staff to get essential information in an informative and efficient way. We will compile a brief list of all the crucial news the City College community needs to know every other week. 

Thanksgiving is right around the corner and break is approaching this week! City College students will have a break from school from Thursday, Nov. 23 to Nov. 26 with school resuming on the 27th. During this time students can go to their eServices student portal to see when their spring enrollment appointment takes place in order to be prepared for next semester. On behalf of the Express we wish everyone at City College a happy Thanksgiving recess! 

City College has recently released a new app called Togetherall which provides a safe space for students to connect, according to the City College website. The app offers an anonymous and free online space that focuses on bettering mental health and overall well-being. Togetherall can provide students with self care advice, new strategies and connection with other peers, according to TK Use this link to download the app and learn more. 

A birthday celebration for Joan Didion will be held on Tuesday, Dec. 5 at 6:30 p.m. at the Art Court and Performing Arts Center at City College. The Sacramento Historical Society (SHS) will be partnering with City College to hold the celebratory event. According to the SHS, the event is to celebrate her legacy and the recent donation to City College from her family and the renaming of the college library in her acknowledgment. Admission is free for Los Rios students and employees. To sign up for the event, email your full name and student ID number to [email protected]

There is a new course at City College this spring semester titled Introduction to LGBTQ+ studies (SJS 310). This course introduces students to LGBTQ+ studies including topics such as politics of sexuality, forms of oppression, violence against LGBTQ+ individuals and communities and much more. Students may find more information about this course on their class schedule. 

City Theatre presents “Mother Goose: The British Panto” with performances which began on Friday, Nov. 17 and will continue through Sunday, Dec. 10. Tickets cost $20 and can be bought here. According to the flyer the play is a family friendly story surrounding a farm and all the challenges that come along with living on one.
